1997. |
After graduation in cinema and art classes and 4 years spent as a rock musician ( THE UNKEMPTS), Jackyll Ramone started a small company of young and enthousiastic film makers to make a 51 minutes sci-fi film called DREAMRUNNER. 19 months and 18 000$ were invested in the production. That included shutting down roads, police protection, closing a bank for an entire afternoon and redirecting the local bus line! It was shot on superVHS and edited with an analog system, the production proved to be a pretty grueling experience. Everything went well up'till post-production when all kinds of problems nearly shut it down. Unfortunately the movie was completed but never distributed. It never the less inspired Jackyll to pursue into the fantasy land and turn his ambitions towards the horror films. Mostly the old camp B movies and the Italian cinema of the sixties. The company was transformed into Gruesome Nonsense. A first short film was produced during a production break from Dreamrunner.

1998. |
THE ZOMBIE DID IT! The original 12 minutes short was produced. Shot on 8mm without any script, the film was more of an experiment then anything else.
JACKYLL:' It was put together from some footage I've done over a weekend with my girlfriend of the time. I shot her cooking, watching T.V and striping! She had the typical 60's Hollywood starlet look that fit that style and I made a pretty good looking zombie with a minimum of makeup.
Afterwards I wrote a script inspired from Ted V. Mickels' ASTRO ZOMBIES
(One of the worst films ever but I just loved it. Saw it nearly 200 times! It's a typical So Bad It's Good thing!) I then got a friend ( FRANCESCO BOISVERTI) and we've put together a cool little black and white film that included as many clichés of the genre as possible. It was a good experience and proved to me that's what I wanted to do as a movie maker.'
But in the following years, the musical career of Jackyll took center stage so no other productions were made. Jackyll worked on and off student films and other director's works doing anything from cameraman to editer to whatever needed to be done.

2001. |
The Unkempts calls it quits and Jackyll turns back to movies for good. First
project in line, ATTACCO DI UNO ZOMBI VIZIOSO! A 40 minutes version
of the 12 minutes short produced in 1998. The script was rewritten to include
new characters and more classic elements of B movies and Italian Gialli
films.
The film was completed after another long and problematic post production
Mainly because of the bad equipment used. The film had to be digitalized
Using computers that were not up to the task. More then once, all the work was
Lost and restarted from scratch. The experience proved draining and painfull
But nevertheless made it to an October 2004 release. The final sound mix was
Completed only a couple of hours before the premiere that took place at the
Legendary Café Chaos in Montreal on Halloween night. The film proved
Successful and led to another project…And new working equipment! |

2004: |
The very night of the ZOMBI premiere, producers approached Jackyll to do a
short bondage film in the classic Betty Page style. They nevertheless wanted
to treat it as an expressionist horror film to give it an original twist. CRYPT
OF THE LOVING DAMNED was born. Jackyll wrote the script and
Production started in January and took more then a year to complete the 38
Minutes film, the first to be shot on mini-DV.
JACKYLL:' That is what made the project possible. It was five times bigger
Then anything I had done or participated in that far and the finished film is
Quite amazing. I never could have pulled that one
In the same conditions as I'done ZOMBI. Much bigger and original then most
films I watched up'till Now. It was very stylized and complex and I had to do
everything on my own Since I didn't had a crew. I had a difficult time on
Dreamrunner working with People who wanted to steal the project from me
And was determined not to let that happen on this one. I even went as far as
Firing the original producers to make sure I had complete control of the
Situation. The film called for a specific look and style, a very unusual film
And only I knew what to make of it. It cost me my health and a lot of
Personal problems but it was worth it. I have yet to see another film from
Anyone else that competes with it's originality and style.'
The film was shot simultaneously in French and English.

CRYPT OF THE LOVING DAMNED (English version) was finally released

summer and a special black and white,27 minutes in 3 parts version was
released later that year as a youtube exclusive under the title
CURSE OF THE LOVING DAMNED GIRL.

2007: |
LUCY, a weird adaptation of a play ( L'amour médecin written by MOLIÈRE)
was produced. The idea was to make a simple short gothic version of the story.
JACKYLL:' That film proved to be one of the most enjoyable experience I had
In a long time. I'm pretty fond of CRYPT but LUCY will always have a
Special spot in my heart. It was fun, didn't took long to do and the results were
Better then what I had originally envisioned.
But the real new challenge was Gruesome Nonsense's first ever science-fiction
Film ‘FILIÈRE TREIZE' ( FILE 13). An homage to the original PLANET OF
THE APES. Production started only a few days after principal photography
Was completed on LUCY. The film is to date the biggest undertaking
Gruesome Nonsense ever produced.
JACKYLL:' This film makes CRYPT appear as a small week end project! I
Had a much smaller budget and the shortest pre-production period besides
LUCY I ever had but the film itself is like 10 times bigger. It breaks the rules
I had set with my previous projects, it is a brand new thing. It will push my
Company to a new level.'
